Divine Mercy Sunday

Today is the Feast of the Divine Mercy. The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a devotion based upon the visions and diary writings of St. Mary Faustina Kowalska. She wrote about how God's love and mercy are limitless and available to everyone.....most especially to the greatest sinners.

We are called to receive this mercy, trust in this mercy, and show this mercy to others. The chaplet is usually said at 3:00, the hour of Christ's suffering and death.

There are many versions, but I find this one from EWTN, to be the most beautfiul. The voices are angelic and soulful. The entire video is 28 minutes and had to broken up into three parts to fit it on youtube. The video starts with an intro song based on a St. Thomas Aquines prayer (Hail to Thee! True Body Sprung). The actual Chaplet song itself starts at the 2:45 mark of the first video and runs through the 1:28 mark of the third video. However, I highly recommend you watch it in it's entirety. It is deeply moving...the words, voices, music, and the faces of those seeking His mercy. Simply beautfiul.

Here are the lyrics to the different songs:

Hail to Thee! True Body Sprung
Hail to Thee! True Body Sprung
From the Virgin Mary's Womb.
Same that on the Cross was Hung
Bore For Man the Bitter Doom.
Sweet Jesus, Mary's Son.

Thou Who's Side was Pierced and Flowed
Both with Water and with Blood.
Suffer us to Taste of Thee
In our Life's Last Agony.
Sweet Jesus, Mary's Son.

Divine Mercy Chaplet
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and the Blood,
Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son,
our Lord, Jesus Christ,
in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (x10)

(at end:)
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (x3)
