So I'm finally reading the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and I have to admit they are rather well-written. I have seen most of the films, but never had access to the books until I was recently lent them by family.
Usually you find many discrepancies between books and movie adaptations, but Rowling's vision seems almost completely intact. I am curious as to what the reading experience would have been like without having already seen the movies. I wonder how I would have envisioned the different characters.
I tore through the first three books (Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban) in a little over a week. I have just started Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and am also re-reading Les Miserables.
It reminds me of the bookmobile days of my childhood...sigh.
