Three days ago, I saw the eyes of a little alligator poking out in one of the small retention ponds. A day after that, I went to the park and in the canal I saw a Florida Softshell turtle (the kind with the funny square nose).
Today, I went along the road with the turtles crossing signs and saw this hefty fellow, walking along and chomping up the grassy vegetation. I believe it is a Gopher Tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus). He was well over a foot long. I was able to snap this photo of him with my cameraphone.
